'triad', from Latin: trinus "threefold" holds that God is one God, but three coeternal consubstantial persons or hypostases —the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit—as "one God in three Divine persons". The three persons are distinct, yet are one "substance, essence or nature". However that be settled, the result, for our present purpose, is the same. On Ignatius' use of the word 'God' as applied to Jesus Christ. The three gospels previously written, having been distributed among all, and also handed to him, they say that he admitted them, giving his testimony to their truth; but that there was only wanting in the narrative the account of the things done by Christ, among the first of his deeds, and at the commencement of the gospel. And this was the truth. Luke has given us an extensive account of our Lord’s final journey to Jerusalem, where He is rejected and crucified, and where He is raised from the dead. And the greatest source of beauty and wonder is not the skill of the human writer, but the glory and majesty of the divine subject of the Gospel, the Lord Jesus Christ. The word parable does not appear in the Gospel of John. The related word παροιμιαν figure of speech appears in 10:6 and refers to the Good Shepherd John 10:1-18.
