The goal of this symposium is to discuss the most important results of recent studies of the cosmic dynamo processes: the origin and evolution of magnetic fields in various astrophysical objects from planets, to stars and galaxies, solar and stellar activity cycles, advances in dynamo theories and numerical simulations, similarities and differences between the solar and stellar activity of. The 20 years following the first IAU Symposium dedicated to dynamo processes IAU Symposium 157 "The Cosmic Dynamo", Potsdam, 1992 have witnessed the founding of a new field of astronomy; ideas developed by solar astronomers have been successfully applied to other stars and astrophysical objects, in which entirely new magnetic activity. Affiliation: AATokyo, University, Tokyo, Japan Publication. The Terrestrial Dynamo 1600: William Gilbert concluded that the Earth was magnetic and proposed that Earth’s core contains permanently magnetized material e.g., lodestone Earth’s magnetic axis is close to its rotational axis Suggests that magnetism and rotation are related 1919: Joseph Larmor that a dynamo gives birth to BEarth Decay time of Earth’s magnetic eld is ˘20 kyr. The contributions in this volume report recent studies on the sun and late-type stars. Particular emphasis is placed on observations that are relevant to the question of large-scale magnetic activity, and also on the theoretical dynamo models for such activity.
