Fasciculi Zizaniorum Magistri Johannis Wyclif cum Tritico Having obtained a first class degree in mathematics from Wadham College, Oxford, in 1851, Walter Waddingham Shirley 1828–66 taught mathematics there before turning his attention to history. First published in 1858, this is a compilation of medieval documents relating to John Wyclif, originally attributed to the friar Thomas Netter of Walden, but now considered to have been compiled after his death. Shirley's edition is still widely cited, although his interpretation provoked lively debates in its day.
